Portland’s Stumptown Comics Fest is fast approaching, and I’ll be participating on Sunday, April 25th, with a signing and presentation.
For those of you who are local or able to attend, I’m curious what topics, images, and formats you’re craving. It seems like the last three years
I’ve just talked about progress on HABIBI — at least this time it’s only a couple of months from completion. What can I do to make this round
more fulfilling for the audience? … My apologies to all of you that aren’t local. In 2011, I promise to be touring EVERYWHERE!

The poster this year is created by my good buddy Theo Ellsworth. (couldn’t find a decent jpeg…)

In other news, Mathew sent a question about the Atlantic Center for the Arts residency. Send in as many ideas/proposals as you wish!
However, since I can only choose eight “Associate artists”, the more realized the proposal the better.

repairs March 21st, 2010

Lately, I’ve been redrawing lots of pages. The work days have been full of false starts — completing most of a page before realizing the
composition or rhythm doesn’t flow. The fix is usually an extra panel or dialogue tweak or simply flipping the panel.
Always better to catch this in the thumbnail version!

clunkerz March 7th, 2010

Thank you, readers, for sticking with my bimonthly updates. Today’s theme is sloppy collage!

Sorting through my flat files for contributions to the upcoming NeoIntegrity Show at MoCCA – NYC,
I excavated these random CHUNKY RICE related scraps.
1) The “clunk” spliced off the last page of original art, slathered with “brush test” doodles.
2) The French translation key from the first ever appearance of CHUNKY.
3) Crumpled vellum-overlay pencils for the 3rd through 5th editions’ cover art.
4) The super-limited edition CHUNKY RICE necklace made by my friends at Studio Acorn. (Less than a dozen in circulation)
